"the village"........it happens!

anyone who has seen the movie "the village" will know what i thought when the following conversation happened. so we were in cancun......and i suggested that we go into the town and see a bit of mexico and eat real mexican food. "oh no. it's dangerous! we can't leave the resort. we should stay here." immediately i thought of the people from "the village". being the traveller that i am.......i never thought it was such a crazy idea. four people go into town for some authentic food and a bit of shopping. doesn't sound too bad to me. so i laughed to myself at the response to the suggestion of checking out the unknown amongst these resort only travelling americans. my sister amy informed me just last night that her and her husband mike went into the town of cancun when they were there and it was great. now......i will give it to the fearful travellers.......i'm sure there are parts of mexico that we don't want to be in, but a tourist destination town isn't going to cause too much trouble.......and i thought the movie was crazy!

it was so nice of teddy's parents to give us the week in cancun. it was great to be in a hot climate again. the resort was like nothing i'd ever stayed at before. we soaked up sun everyday......ate lots of food......visited tulum (an important historical site in the cancun area) and had a day at the spa. we didn't do anything mexican and this resort could have been anywhere in the world.....but it was beautiful.
