HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

we made it through the month in canada and are back in boston. it sure was great to be back in canada for christmas. i should do it more often. i only wish t let himself enjoy it more. he didn't really want to come but it was important for me that he be there so he reluctantly came. i won't ask him to come again against his will, but in some ways i'm glad i insisted. it may (or may not) be the last christmas for some of the old people in our family so it was good that everyone was well enough to enjoy christmas with us and that i was finally home.

the driving back this far was great. we had to hope and pray for a sunny day and dry roads as we are making our trip on summer tires......and we couldn't have had a better day for driving. yes.....i DO know.......it's not a good idea.......but with the car requiring 17 inch tires we weren't going to put about $1000 worth of winter tires on the car for less than one month of use. now we just need one more day of sunshine and dry roads in a week or two to get us far enough south that bad weather won't challenge our road trip.
