it's about time
i haven't posted on here in a long time.......so here goes a long over due announcemenet.........i'm pregnant! i'm sure most of you know (if anyone is still checking my blog) but here are ultrasound shots from the first half.
this was the first ultrasound we had, confirming that the pregnancy test(s!) were correct. there is a baby in there! measurements guessed that the baby is about 6weeks-6days old at this point. we even could hear the heartbeat this early!
this one was taken 2 weeks later at 8weeks-6days. I was shocked at how much the baby had grown in that 2 weeks!
this was at our 12week-4days appointment. again, amazing changes so fast! we got to spend a lot of time looking around at the baby. we even got to see movement while the ultrasound tech held the "camera" (for lack of a better word) in place for a moment. i was so impressed! it was probably my favorite appointment so far.
another shot from the 12week-4days appointment.
here is the baby at the 16week-4days appointment. we can actually see individual fingers!
smiling pretty for the camera! cute!
here we are at the 21week appointment, when the doctor did a lot of measuring and checking for defects. here is a face shot...
in this one she was checking for cheft palate. the image shows the nose, lip and chin.
in this image the doctor zoomed in on the lens of the baby's eye and checked for cataracts. who knew this can be a congenital defect??
and then a very cute open mouth image. probably wondering when we're gonna stop taking pictures!
just yesterday we had the 24 week4days appointment. i had the glucose test for gestational diabetes, which came back negative. the doctor measured some things on the baby (skull, heart and ulna are the 3 i can remember) and all are within normal ranges. here is a face image. looks like a sleeping baby.
i have read some things online about the concern that we don't have enough study data on the long term effects of ultrasound on a developing baby. some people are against multiple ultrasounds. i can't think of a reason why it would harm a baby and the pure joy and excitement we get from seeing our baby is worth it to us. we feel more connected to her when we see her and it is truly amazing to watch her grow. next month we will get a 4d imaging of her to see more of what she looks like. i'm looking forward to it!
