brave.....but a little scared.....
they were thoroughly enjoying the building of the monster's face, all the while looking ever more slightly scared at the sight of his fully pictured big green face. then one outspoken kid piped up in korean that he wasn't scared of the monster, followed by echoes of the other children saying that they weren't scared either. as i looked at them chiming in, they all had slightly scared expressions on. so i leaned in and asked them (showing a little bit with my finger and thumb) if it was just a little scary, and they were very quick to answer yes to that! apparently they were quite relieved that someone was ok with admitting that it was scary. they are too cute! it made me laugh.
i highly recommend the book if you are a parent of or teach young children. it is great and i haven't yet met a kid who didn't love the book. it's even been published in other languages due to the popularity.
