road trip!

i am having a really great weekend......and i have 2 days to go! yesterday teddy and i started out from seoul to the west coast of korea. we both lived on the east coast for 5 years, so pretty much the only korean coastline we have seen has been east. i was excited to be next to the water again and see something other than cement and city! we found some really beautiful beaches to comb and a strange orchid place (with only a few orchids in it, but hey, we each got a free little plant of some sort at the end of the tour, so all wasn't a loss!). here are some shots from the road trip.........

the first beach we stopped at. it is called kot-ji hea-su-yok-jang which means flower beach. it's all a lie! there were no flowers there!

here is teddy helping me beach comb for some beautiful shells.

my shirt full of shells on the way back to the car.

the sunset at an-myeon beach.

teddy and i the next morning (actually this morning) at another beach along the coast on our way back towards seoul.

a photo of that beach.......

a photo of a port along our drive. it reminded me of many trips to the shores of nova scotia when dad would often drop his line (sometimes with 2, 3 or 4 little girls in tow!) off a warf along the way.

me enjoying strawberries for breakfast. (teddy says i look angry.....but i'm certainly not! i was having a great day!)

we found this weird statue.......so we took a picture.......the tortoise and the hare??

me at the top of the rocks next to that statue in the previous picture.

this is the big rock that i was sitting on in the previous picture.

teddy and i at the orchid farm.

orchids.........

bigger orchids........

a gas station we saw along the way with korean style roofing.

some very beautiful flowers next to that gas station. the colors were so great, but it was so very bright and sunny that i couldn't capture them very well.

this was just a pretty scene looking down the road.

i know. living in sokcho never made for the necessity to go west. i've been here since 2001 and that was my first trip. i still haven't been to jeju-do!
