first haircut!

Lilyanna experienced a few firsts when we were home. one of them was her first haircut. I was so afraid of her looking like a boy, but the front really needed a trim. so off we went to see Elaine.

Elaine insisted that I keep some. I wasn't going to but i'm glad now that she handed me an envelope and said I should.

 doing good Lilyanna!
 a little off here....
 and a little off there.....
and ta-da! finished! Lilyanna even admired her haircut!
you look so sweet with straight bangs!
I wish very much we could go see Elaine right now for another trim. hopefully we find someone around here that knows just what to do!

money shot

a few days after arriving in NS, amy and I took Lilyanna to the playground for a little photo shoot. it went a little like this:

most of the photos were mediocre, (to put it best):

then there were the half eyes closed, blurry, head turned and running from the camera ones:

as well a the screaming ones:

all for the ONE money shot of the day:
Lilyanna you are a beautiful girl. it is usually very frustrating to get a good photo of you, but when I see one like this it makes me so happy!

my birthday

so, in February and march, I got into sewing and shared some of my creations in this post and this post, too. you can click on the words and take a peek if you haven't already. we also had the florida trip and easter, which I posted about here.

this brings us up to my birthday. I asked for a road trip to the historic Vicksburg and we had a great day.

we walked around the old part of the city. it happens to be down on the Mississippi river, but we didn't take a waterside photo.

after walking around for a bit, we drove around the:

it took us a few hours to drive the whole thing and we only got out a few times. we didn't even read any of the placards either! (and there were tons of them!)

it was a great day, spent with two of my favorite people. after the museum we had buffet dinner on the Mississippi river. there is quite a magnificent view of the river as you approach the parking lot, which is much lower than the road. upon seeing the water, Lilyanna starts kicking her feet saying "I wanna try! I wanna try! kick! kick! kick!" I think she thought we went there for swimming! cute!

new orleans

back at the beginning of march we took an over night trip to new orleans for our interview to get my green card. we were only there for less than 24hrs., but it was fun.

here is Lilyanna at suppertime. she thought it was funny to put a bite between her teeth and pretend it was stuck. she is such a jokester! always trying to get a laugh out of us.
we walked around the French quarter in the evening. Lilyanna thought she wanted a closer look at the horse, but once teddy lifted her closer she was scared of it!
we just had to stop and have some famous beignets (donuts covered in powdered sugar) at café du monde. yummy! (even for me, and I don't like donuts!)

the day of the interview we had to go to the aquarium. Lilyanna loved it!

they even had animals to crawl on!

new Orleans is a fun place to go. we had such a short time there, but it was enjoyable. I should have taken more pictures of the buildings. the architecture and detail on the buildings is beautiful. there were so many beautiful homes. hopefully we make an excuse to go back sometime soon!
