road trip!

i am having a really great weekend......and i have 2 days to go! yesterday teddy and i started out from seoul to the west coast of korea. we both lived on the east coast for 5 years, so pretty much the only korean coastline we have seen has been east. i was excited to be next to the water again and see something other than cement and city! we found some really beautiful beaches to comb and a strange orchid place (with only a few orchids in it, but hey, we each got a free little plant of some sort at the end of the tour, so all wasn't a loss!). here are some shots from the road trip.........

the first beach we stopped at. it is called kot-ji hea-su-yok-jang which means flower beach. it's all a lie! there were no flowers there!

here is teddy helping me beach comb for some beautiful shells.

my shirt full of shells on the way back to the car.

the sunset at an-myeon beach.

teddy and i the next morning (actually this morning) at another beach along the coast on our way back towards seoul.

a photo of that beach.......

a photo of a port along our drive. it reminded me of many trips to the shores of nova scotia when dad would often drop his line (sometimes with 2, 3 or 4 little girls in tow!) off a warf along the way.

me enjoying strawberries for breakfast. (teddy says i look angry.....but i'm certainly not! i was having a great day!)

we found this weird statue.......so we took a picture.......the tortoise and the hare??

me at the top of the rocks next to that statue in the previous picture.

this is the big rock that i was sitting on in the previous picture.

teddy and i at the orchid farm.

orchids.........

bigger orchids........

a gas station we saw along the way with korean style roofing.

some very beautiful flowers next to that gas station. the colors were so great, but it was so very bright and sunny that i couldn't capture them very well.

this was just a pretty scene looking down the road.

i can't even think of title for this blog.......partly because i'm trying to think why i can't seem to keep this blog updated. i'd be surprised if anyone actually is here reading this, thanks to my slackness. my apologies. welcome back to my life....to anyone who is reading........

so......march........
i started my job as an english teacher, at seokyeong university. although i started slightly behind everyone else, since i missed the 2 orientation days........i managed to learn the ropes fairly fast. i think i expected the job to be more full on, 'cause i remember saying (and i still sometimes think!) to my friend, heidi (the reason i have the job), during the first couple weeks, "i feel like i'm not doing this right.". but after a smalll discussion about the matter, i'd find out that i'm doing it right and that's all i need to do. i quickly found out that teaching at a university is totally possible for me and that i do actually like it. i more than like it. i should have made this change a long time ago! march came and went without much excitement after settling into my new job.

on to april.........
i turned the big 3-0 to ring in the new month......on the 5th. i never wanted to turn 30 but it's not so bad. i'm having a great year. i made an appointment to see the dentist about mid-month and after a good cleaning and check-up he suggested that i have a sideways wisedom tooth removed. it was pushing against the other teeth and causing a great deal of crowding. he also said that if he took out that bottom tooth, the top "partner" should be removed as well, since it would have nothing to bite down on. i made the appointment for may 3rd and dreaded it all the way.

may......
well to ring in this month.......i got the two teeth removed. i was scared as could be and stressed to the max but the dentist was great and the hygenist was so sweet. after 1hr and 20mins of tooth breaking, pressure, more novocaine than originally given, and some tears.......i made it! gosh.....nothing else in my life has made me feel like such a baby! goodness i hated it. but it was 3.5 days ago now and the swelling and pain have diminished greatly. i went for a check up today and the dentist said it is healing nicely. i get stiches out friday morning and i look forward to the complete recovery.
