lazy

i have been becoming more and more lazy with my blog. i don't really mean to but i don't feel like i have much interesting stuff going on to write about.

i ran the terry fox run back on the 16th and i'm not even gonna pretend.......i'll tell you the truth.......it was hard. i even had to walk some of it. i did finish it, though, and that was my goal. i'd like to train harder and try another 10k sometime in the future. i'm really not good at running and i always find it hard, but i would love to be good at it. i always seem to fool myself into thinking i can do it. hopefully next time it'll be easier.

this past weekend was a 5 day weekend for us working over here in korea. the korean holiday "chuseok" (pronounced chew-sock) was from monday to wednesday and we were lucky with that this year. sometimes 2 of the 3 days fall on the weekend. now that i live in a suburb of seoul i decided not to travel anywhere. with a good percentage of the 23+ million people living in the metro area trying to get to their families' home towns........i was quite happy to remain here and not stuck in traffic for most of the break. chuseok is a time for koreans to pay respects to their ancestors and to celebrate the harvest time of year. they bow at grave sites, eat a huge feast and play various traditional games. i was very lazy and didn't do much. one day of it i didn't even get out of my pyjamas all day! for the rest of it i just hung out with friends. i'll add a photo below of some of my students in their traditional korean dress---the hanbok.

run run run

it's that time of year for us canadians........terry fox runs are being held all over the country this month (and with some canadian embassy groups around the world). i joined the gym 3 1/2 weeks ago and now i'm training for a purpose other than general health. a co-worker thought he'd sign a few of us up for the terry fox run, happening on the 16th in seoul. i initally, reluctantly, agreed to do the 5k, but lately have thoughts of aiming for the 10k. i really hate running, but if terry ran 5,323k, from newfoundland to ontario..........i'm sure i can atleast try to run 10k!

wow! 35 years today!

When I think of all the things you do,
the ways in which you care,
I'm filled with a sense of gratitude
and pride that is always there.
I seldom take the time to tell you
that I'm happy you're my mom and dad,
so I'll tell you now what's in my heart
"You're the best that I could have!"
happy 35th anniversary, mom & dad! i hope you have a great weekend.
